Case Study
G5 Developments Pan-European Office Relocation
Challenges
To relocate the entire contents from G5 Developments offices in Madrid, Spain to their newly refurbished offices in London, UK. Task included storage of contents in CMG Secure Storage Centre until new offices were ready for use.
Moving large offices across the continent in a short space of time required expert planning by senior move consultants, outlining detailed job and travel itineraries to be executed by a fully-trained move team, IT technician and travel facilitator.
Approach
Because the relocation was pan-European, CMG sent a senior relocation consultant to the client’s offices in Madrid to make a thorough evaluation of G5 Development’s requirements. After the consultant had made the initial evaluation, regular checks were made with the client to be aware of any changes or additions to the client’s goods and overall move requirements.
Preparation and Planning
Shortly prior to the day of the move, a two-man porter team and IT technician were sent by air to Madrid to make on-site preparations, such as any export wrapping and the disconnection and storage of any IT systems. Shortly afterwards, the rest of the porter team and the travel facilitator arrived by road to commence the relocation.
Co-ordination and Assistance
During the wrapping and packing stage of the move, it became apparent that the client would need at least one computer workstation online to ensure business could carry on as much as possible right until the end of the relocation away from the Madrid office.
The fully trained IT technician implemented a strategy that made this possible while still being able to disconnect and store the rest of the network workstations and hardware. The remaining workstation was the very last thing to be wrapped and packed before the office was completely vacated.
Once the contents of the Madrid office had been wrapped and packed, they were transported by road to CMG’s secure storage facilities in the UK, where they were securely stored for 5 days.
The contents were then transported to G5 Developments' new offices in London where they were unpacked, unwrapped and the offices set out as had been detailed by the client. CMG’s IT technician was then able to set-up the network of workstations and hardware, adapting to the differences that the new offices had from the old.
Completion
The relocation took a total of 3 months to plan and nearly three weeks to execute. Once set up in their new offices, the client requested for an ongoing contract with CMG to deal with any of their regular relocation/removal requirements.
